Due to the media frenzy regarding the Gospel of Judas in South Africa (and worldwide), it seems fitting to address this for those who want an answer.

This is in order that people take a calm and clear look at the situation, and don't panic first; research later...

What struck me at first was the manner in which this document was being presented, and the conclusions everyone was jumping to. "Documentary: Judas didn't betray Jesus", "The Judas we never knew" and "Judas Iscariot: Hero?" were some of the startling titles I found on the Google News site. Our own Saturday Star (8/4/2006 edition) bellowed a full page exposition titled "The voice of Judas" in it's Canvas section. According to the Star article, National Geographic was to screen a two hour documentary on the document on it's satellite channel.
